For participating colleges interested in implementing the Shibboleth federated identity management technology, and planning for campus policy and process decisions related to adoption and germane to small, independent colleges and universities. Campuses will benefit from sending teams of two from different campus roles, including technologists, CIOs, network directors and other network staff, registrars, librarians, and others involved in managing student and staff identity information. For technologists and financial/business officers from participating colleges interested in learning about the Kuali Financial Systems (KFS) software and discussing the future of KFS as a solution for smaller, independent colleges. For faculty members in the sciences at participating colleges--and their academic support partners--who are interested in using visualization to foster student comprehension of and participation in scientifically rich curricula and in furthering their own understanding of visualization as a component of pedagogy and communication in the sciences. For faculty members, instructional technologists, and librarians from participating colleges who are interested in exploring how real-time collaboration technologies—from interactive videoconferencing to social presence tools to virtual worlds such as Second Life—can be used to expand the boundaries of the physical classroom and shape the curriculum. For faculty members, program administrators, instructional technologists, and other campus professionals from participating colleges who are interested in incorporating service learning and issues of social justice into their curricular and extracurricular programs. Participants will explore how digital technologies from social software to data analysis tools are increasingly being used to support service learning and advance an institutional commitment to issues of social justice, social equality, and the digital divide.
